MagicDisc Virtual DVD/CD-Rom

Getting the MagicDisc application off the web and into your computer will only take a moment, considering that the download weighs in at little over 1MB. Not having to wait a long time for a download to complete, now that is the first thing you are going to like about this app if you, like me, don’t like to wait around for downloads that take forever to complete.

And speaking of waiting around, chances are that you don’t like to wait on lengthy installation processes either. And with that I present the second thing you are going to like about this application – the fact that installing the application on your Windows-powered computer (should work just fine with any Windows version) is a simple and straightforward process that takes little time to complete.

And here comes the best thing you are going to like about this application; the functionality it has to offer. Once the application is up and running, you can use to do the following:
- Create ISO images of CDs and DVDs.
- Mount ISO images (and other formats) and access the information stored on those images. You don’t have to load a physical CD or DVD to access the data stored on it; you can load the ISO image instead.

Here is one situation when the functionality MagicDisc has to offer: you have a CD with your favorite album. You don’t want to risk damaging it, so you emulate the CD, and mount the image. This way you can listen to the music on the CD without having physical access to the CD itself. Or you have some important data stored on a CD or DVD. To ensure you don’t lose that data, you can back it up by emulating the CD or DVD. And you can have easy access to the data by storing the CD or DVD image on your computer and mounting it with MagicDisc.

The bottom line is that MagicDisc is an easy to use and properly good utility for creating and managing virtual drives and disc images. With that out of the way, let me point out the last (but definitely not least) thing you are going to like about this application; it is freeware. That means you don’t have to part with your hard earned money to enjoy the functionality it has to offer. That’s always nice.

Pros
  • Lightweight download
  • Easy to use
  • Utility designed for creating and managing virtual CD drives and CD/DVD discs
  • Free

Cons
  • None that I could think of
